Moneygall, a small town in Ireland, claims to be the source of President Obama's Irish heritage. According to geneaologists, and church records found by an Anglican vicar, Obama's great-great-great-grandfather, Fulmuth Kearney, was reared in Moneygall, then left for America in 1850, when he was 19. Along with thousands of fellow Gaels, Kearney left for America as Ireland suffered its Great Famine.
The Corrigan Brothers, an Irish pop group, released a light-hearted Irish-inflected pop tune during the presidential campaign. It is available at their website.
