Russia blocks Jehovah's Witnesses

Russian president Medvedev is involving chuches on behalf of young people. The Kremlin wants to reinforce relations with the Orthodox, and make the Patriarch of Moscow a point of reference for all religions.

In order to instill moral and religious values in young people, President Medvedev will personally lead the Council on Cooperation with Religious Associations.

It will be attended by the president of the Council of Muftis, Ravil’ Gajnutdin, chief rabbi Berl Lazar, and the president of the traditional Buddhists, Damba Ajušeev. The Orthodox delegation will have the most extensive representation, and will even include Patriarch Kirill himself, metropolitan archbishops Juvenalij and Kliment, Archbishop Aleksandr, head of the youth department, the rector of the Moscow Theological Academy, Evgenij, and Bishop Feofilakt, head of cooperation with the religious associations of Moscow.

The head of the Kremlin has affirmed that the young generations must rediscover their religious roots after the vacuum of values generated by the Soviet era, and reinforced during the 1990's. For the president, the lack of moral points of reference especially affects the age group between 14 and 30, which represents about a fourth of the overall population. In the Year of Youth, which is being celebrated in 2009, the state wants to develop a more effective youth policy, taking advantage of the collaboration of religious associations on both the federal and regional level, and continuing the cooperation already established in the area of the family.

For various commentators and experts, Medvedev's statements on the importance of religion in the life of the country and his direct involvement with various representatives of the traditional confessions document the intention of the Kremlin to take a step forward in relations between the state and the Orthodox Church, to confirm the Patriarch of Moscow as a point of reference for all the religions in the Federation, and to attribute a strong political value to his position. Deacon Andrej Kuraev, a famous and very influential theologian, has called the intensification of relations between the state and the Orthodox Church a "resumption of the Byzantine harmony."

But while a new and lasting association seems to have begun between the Patriarchate and the Kremlin, the situation is very different for many of the other religions present in the Federation. In February, the attorney general of the Federation sent the administrative committee of the Jehovah's Witnesses a letter accusing the members of the Russian community of "violations of the law," "abstention from military service," and "social isolation," behaviors that "evoke negative attitudes on the part of the populace and traditional Russian confessions."

The representatives of the Jehovah's Witnesses reject the accusations, and say that this is just the latest act of violence against them on the part of the authorities. Appealing to the Russian Constitution and the European Court on Human Rights, they complain of systematic violation of their religious freedom and civil rights, which has so far led to the opening of more than 45 legal procedures against their communities scattered throughout the country. The Jehovah's Witnesses reject the accusation of sectarianism lodged against them by the Russian authorities, and respond by denouncing illegal arrests, confiscations, searches, and detentions against the faithful and their property.

THOUSANDS of JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES HAVE DIED for REFUSING BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS.

It is the Watchtower society that has heaped controversy on itself with it's arbitrary flip-flopping decisions on what *parts* aka fractions of Blood are allowed and disallowed.

If you go by the old testament it says to pour ALL the blood onto the ground as dust as it is ALL sacred to God.So,where does the Watchtower get the authority to decide what *parts* of something that is sacred can be used??

Some cases need immediate life-saving emergency blood transfusions and the watchtower's doctrine Says NO.

Jehovahs Witnesses & blood transfusions is contradictory, they condemn blood but then go and use *fractions*,donated by thousands of Red Cross volunteers. They use 60% of the blood volume that is in each bag/unit as broken down *fractions* then denounce *whole blood transfusions* as a major sin.

As a diversion they go and trump the advantages of bloodless surgeries and try to grab the credit for it when in fact bloodless techniques were pioneered by non-JW doctors because of the shortage of blood donors (like with all the JWs who use blood fractions but don't donate back)

Total hyprocrisy

Really, with some new insight, I know Jehovah's Witnesses are not a cult. I have found through research that Jehovah's Witnesses don't ask for money, they don't pass collection plates, and their ministers make nothing at all from the preaching work. They are told to follow the law, pay their taxes, be honest and caring with all people, stay out of war, have strong morale convictions. How can that be a cult? They are truly wonderful people.

To susan ,Jehovah's Witnesses DO NOT believe that only Jehovah's Witnesses will be 'saved'. You proved thru' your statement that you are only googl'ing stuff and spouting it back on here.

If you please do me a favor; try to look for cases involving other people of different confessions too. Bcoz the way you put your figures, you make us feel like only Jehovah's witnesses have ongoing court cases.

The Jehovah's Witnesses on one hand fill their books and lectures with details about how evil and corrupt every other religion is, but then when theirs is exposed as corrupt they fall back on how it's "voluntary" to be a member, and how it's not nice to say nasty things about them, and how they're being "persecuted."

Jehovah's Witnesses are unpopular for many reasons, none of which matched the early church except for non-political involvement, which is not exclusive to them at all. They are like carnival hucksters preaching the need to become a Jehovah's Witness or die at Armageddon.

They say they promote good family life? Only until you disagree with the leadership in Brooklyn on the slightest of points, and then they completely divide and destroy the family. Then they write hypocritical articles like the new July 2009 Awake! "The Bible's Viewpoint - Is It Wrong to Change Your Religion?" and make themselves look open-minded and progressive, but practice the most destructive forms of shunning of all religions if you disobey the leadership's ever-changing doctrines, dates and rules.

Anyone can be persecuted, which proves nothing if you are a religion invented in the late 1800s by a man who was into pyramidology, numerology, and who stood on the top of a building with a white sheet waiting to be raptured. 130 years later, they are still awaiting a false hope.

The most of you are absolutely incorrect. If anyone has been brainwashed it's the majority of all of you. There's a real truth! I'm done being lied to. I am studying w/ JW's now and I actually finally feel in my heart that I have found the TRUTH and I'm happy without the world that contaminates me. I am tired of ruining my life w/ my poor decisions and lies of other religions. Had I followed the Bible's message, I would not have been through all of my shame. They are not a cult. Jehovah is one God, and Jesus is the son that came here as a ransome to save us sinners and to glorify his Father in Heaven. Jesus did not come to Preach about himself- as you Triniterians believe. Show me one place that says Trinity in the Bible! Now go read the Book of John again.
There is sin and death in everyone 100%. The world hates JW's because it was already prophesized - John 15.18
ROMANS 2.1-2.16. Your religions are lying to you! All you really have to do is READ YOUR BIBLE!!! That's all Jehovah's Witnesses do and they go door to door because Jesus went house to house preaching the good news (Acts 20.20 Just as important Matthew 7.7) What is the GOOD NEWS? You might ask. Please Please go get your Bible and read for yourself. I'm not asking you to join anything! I'm asking you to read the Bible you say you read. We all don't infact go to heaven (Matthew 7.21-23)or hell when we die but sleeping with no conscienseness(Ecclesiastes 9.5-6) After the Great Tribulaion the meek shall inherit the earth and live upon it FOREVER - free of evil, mourning, sickness and all the terrible things were living in right now. Revelation 21.1-5 also see Matthew 5.5.
PEOPLE OPEN YOUR EYES. Just as Noah promised and the people were laughing and shouting - so will be the time for Jehovahs war. I might not make it either, but I have a hope and that is to be as much of a TRUE Christian as Christ taught as I can. JEHOVAH IS OUR GOD CHRONICALS 16.35-36, ISAIAH 48.17-18, Matthew 6.9, and Most importantly Psalms 83.18.
Goodluck on your judging, but mostly on your living in this system of things!
