President Obama will visit Pope Benedict XVI in July as a side bar to a meeting with members of the G-8 nations being held at Rome. In the run-up to the meeting between president and pontiff Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, reacted to White House press secretary Robert Gibbs' statement that President Obama and Pope Benedict have a "shared belief in the dignity of all people."

Fr. Pavone stated, "They do not. President Obama believes in the dignity of most people, but not all. We call on the President to clearly state that children should be protected by law before birth, not just after."
