Twitter servers under attack

Denial-of-service attack keeps Twitterers in the dark

Article Tools
Throughout Thursday morning, Twitter users around the globe could not reach their Twitter accounts because of denial-of-service accounts on Twitter's servers.

Twitter officials announced that they restored service later in the morning but quickly discovered that the attacks were not finished and are continuing to recover from the attack.

A denial-of-service attack is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. These effective attacks are often untraceable and the culprits of the attack are rarely discovered.

Twitter officials announced they will keep users informed of the status of the attack on status.twitter.com.
