Movie short 'Alive in Joburg' gave wings to the project that became director Neill Blomkamp's 'District 9'. Set in South Africa sometime in the future, it imagines that extraterrestrials have come to earth only to be shunted into slum-like conditions and treated as second-class citizens. Peter Jackson, who directed the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy and the revival of 'King Kong' produced the feature length film now in theatres.
