The Argentine artist that got raves from Latin Americans died on January 4 from complications as a result of a heart and lung transplant which he underwent two months ago. He was 64.
In the 1960s, Sandro, whose real name was Roberto Sanchez, grew to become one of Latin America’s most successful artists. Because of his musical style and sensual way of performing he became known as the Argentinian Elvis.
Over his career Sandro recorded 52 albums, which sold millions of copies. He enjoyed international success, twice winning the prestigious Viña del Mar festival in Chile and performing as the first Latin American artist to play to a full house in the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York.
