My Friends:
Today, I am taking the steps necessary to become the Republican Party’s nominee for the Office of President of the United States of America.
Our nation is the most free, prosperous, and generous in history. This legacy results from the virtue and valor of past generations who have overcome great challenges, expanded freedom and inspired the world. Today, we are summoned to greatness.
Amidst war and recession, tumult and uncertainty, we must restore and strengthen our nation for generations of free peoples yet born. To fulfill our duty, we must reject the temptations of Big Government and reaffirm self-government. We must seize freedom.
Thus, we need a President who cherishes the eternal principles that make America an inspiring example of what a free people can achieve:
Our liberty is from God not the government;
Our sovereignty is in our souls not the soil;
Our security is from strength not surrender;
Our prosperity is from the private sector not the public sector; and
Our truths are self-evident not relative
These principles will again light our course as we meet the four great challenges of this global age: the social, economic and political upheavals of globalization that are exacerbated by the implosion of Big Government and the insolvency of “too big to fail banks”; the war for freedom against terrorism; the rise of Communist China as a strategic threat and rival model of government; and the moral relativism’s erosion of virtue in a nation built upon self-evident truths.
On the economy, by shrinking from these challenges and growing Big Government a regressive leftist Administration has stifled our prosperity by dragging America in a “new direction” – back to the 1970’s. The Left has proven too costly, too crazy, and too quick. In consequence, American families confront record and unsustainable spending, deficits and debt; and a recessed economy where 14 million Americans cannot find work, and up to 30 million Americans cannot find better jobs – as all the while real wages decline and inflation rises. Simultaneously, the failed Wall Street Bailout banks continue to constrict credit and keep it out of reach from the innovators, workers and consumers who will grow our economy and provide the economic energy and vision for the “Next American Century.”
But let us take heart despite the times. For while our American Dream is endangered, we must seize this opportunity to fundamentally restructure Big Government into Citizen Government for the 21st Century.
We need a President who understands Big Government is the most dangerous special interest; who will make the tough but fair decisions to again make government the servant of the sovereign American people; who knows welcomes hard work and entrepreneurship being rewarded in a thriving, expanding free market that manufactures and farms – that produces wealth, rather than merely consumes it; who grasps the moral duty to fulfill the promises made to our greatest generation and the truly needy without cheating future generations to do so; and who stands steadfast with our with our allies and unflinching in the face of tyrants and terrorists.
Bluntly, we need a President who understands that America’s exceptionalism is not our burden but our birthright; and that America’s ultimate strength and salvation remains the unfathomable grace of God and virtuous genius of her free people.
This is why I seek to serve as your President; and am committed to promoting and implementing a platform of principled conservatism. Our campaign begins now and I need your support. Please go to our new website: www.McCotter2012.com; register for campaign alerts and updates; and make a contribution of $25 to commence the campaign. Thank you for joining our team to rebuild the American dream.
Thank you for seizing freedom!
Sincerely,
Thaddeus McCotter
