According to a poll conducted by the Rasmussen organization, Democrat Andrew Gillum is leading Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) by 6 points in the current gubernatorial race.  Released on Friday, the Rasmussen poll of likely voters showed that Gillum, the mayor of Tallahassee, is supported by 48 percent while DeSantis got 42 percent of likely voters’ support. Two percent of respondents said they prefer another candidate and eight percent of voters are undecided.

Of voters who claim to be certain to vote, they gave Gillum an even larger margin — 49 percent to 44 percent.

A poll released separately by the Florida Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday showed Gillum with a 4 point lead over DeSantis.

In the August primary, Gillum unleashed a surprise when he defeated former Rep. Gwen Graham (Fla.), a centrist Democrat. Gillum has been leading DeSantis since the first publicly released poll after his primary win.

In the Republican primary DeSantis handily defeated Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam after being backed by President Trump. The Rasmussen poll was conducted among 800 likely Florida voters between Sept. 10-11 and has a margin of error +/- 3.5 percentage points.

The Real Clear Politics averaging of polls shows Gillum is up by 3.7 points over DeSantis.
