Hackers identifying themselves as the "Polish Underground" have taken down a Polish government website in protest of antipiracy legislation.

A Polish government statement said that “the server was switched off and secured."

The group is protesting against the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA).

During the weekend, in protest against ACTA, the computer hacker group Anonymous launched attacks on official websites belonging to the Polish president, prime minister, and parliament.

Michal Boni, the minister for administration and digitization, said Prime Minister Donald Tusk and other members of the government were meeting to debate their stance on ACTA.

Critics fear the treaty could lead to censorship on the Internet.
