Low blow: Comedienne Rivers appears to make anti-Catholic statement

Octogenarian comedienne Joan Rivers, famous for her face-lifts and one-liners, wallowed into dubious humor when in an interview with the New York Post she delivered catty remarks about Hollywood starlet Jennifer Lawrence. Rivers said of Lawrence, "My New Year’s resolution is [ensuring] Jennifer Lawrence grows up and realizes how lucky she is and calms down."

Continuing, Rivers - who has made light of her own body enhancement in the past - said of Lawrence on December 27, "I love that she’s telling everyone how wrong it is to worry about retouching and body image, and meanwhile, she has been touched up more than a choir boy at the Vatican."

"Look at her posters," jibed Rivers. "She doesn’t have a nose, she has two holes. She just has to learn, don’t talk if you’re doing it."

It was not clear to exactly what Rivers was referring when she spoke of choir boys at the Vatican. Rivers was responding to comments Lawrence made about Rivers' Fashion Police show while promoting her latest movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in November.
