Show host Tucker Carlson denounced NFL team members who opted to kneel or sit during the playing of the National Anthem before games on Sunday and Monday. Speaking on Monday evening, Carlson said the the “pampered millionaires” are “disgusting.”
The booing at the NFL football game last night, when the entire Dallas team dropped to its knees, was loudest I have ever heard. Great anger— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 26, 2017
The voluble Carlson said on the evening Fox News broadcast, “In Washington, D.C. last night, virtually every player on the Raiders sat in protest as a military Army guard carried an American flag onto the field. Now, the sight of pampered millionaires giving the rhetorical finger to the country that made them rich is obviously disgusting, so it was no surprise that in stadiums across America fans booed when they saw this.”
Tucker noted how leftists demand free speech of liberal athletes but are intolerant of free speech claimed by conservatives. “Free speech lectures are a little hard to take from the very people who routinely shut down the political speech of their opponents,” Carlson said.
Later on the program, Carlson added, “When our elites attack our national symbols as if they are worthless and loathesome, something important, something monumental has changed here. If the people who benefited most from America despise it — and increasingly they do — where does that leave the rest of us?”
But while Dallas dropped to its knees as a team, they all stood up for our National Anthem. Big progress being made-we all love our country!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 26, 2017
President Donald Trump has criticized the NFL and team owners who have allowed players to make political statements by taking to their knees during the National Anthem, sparking numerous replies from his opponents. On Monday, Trump issued a tweet that called on the NFL to issue a rule to prohibit kneeling during the National Anthem.
The NFL has all sorts of rules and regulations. The only way out for them is to set a rule that you can't kneel during our National Anthem!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 26, 2017
