In a statement released on Twitter, country music personality Jason Aldean revealed that his fears for his children. It was during his set at the Route 91 Harvest concert at Mandalay Bay casino in Las Vegas that a shooter opened fire on the thousands of fans gathered there. At least 59 persons have died so far, while over 500 were wounded. In his statement, Aldean wrote: “This world is becoming the kind of place I am afraid to raise my children in.”
When shots rang out and people scattered, Aldean also sought safety.
The 40-year-old Aldean wrote that he has “gone through lots of emotions” over the last 24 hours. “I truely don’t understand why a person would want to take the life of another,” he wrote. “Something has changed in this country and in this world lately that is scary to see.” New media have labeled the incident the worst mass murder in American history.
Aldean -- who is the father of two -- said his “heart aches for the victims and their families.” In a call for national unity, Aldean pleaded, “At the end of the day we arent Democrats or Republicans, Whites or Blacks, Men or Women.” He continued: “We are all humans and we are all Americans and its time to start acting like it as stand together as ONE!”
