A spokesman for the Iranian parliament's Presiding Board says President Mahmud Ahmadinejad is due to appear before the legislature on March 14 for questioning.
The spokesman, Mohsen Kouhkan, made the comments after reports said 10 lawmakers had abandoned the push to summon Ahmadinejad, leading to speculations that the session could be canceled.
Kouhkan, however, said it was legally too late for lawmakers to withdraw their support for the motion to question Ahmadinejad.
Iranian media report that Ahmadinejad will have one hour to answer 10 questions raised by lawmakers over his handling of the economy, his decision not to appear at work for 11 days, and other issues.
