Author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza was interviewed by Rich Zeoli on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT about his new book, The Big Lie, and the recent violence in Charlottesville VA that pitted white supremacists and radical leftists against each other in a protest over the removal of Confederate monuments. D’Souza noted that the organizer of the white supremacists was also a supporter of Barack Obama and Occupy Wall Street.

D’Souza, pointing to evidence provided by the liberal Southern Poverty Law Center, said that  “Unite the Right” leader Jason Kessler organized a “hate rally.” In the past, D’Souza has been quick to identify the Democratic Party as the party of the Ku Klux Klan and racial identity politics.

“The white supremacist leader of this group is an Obama guy and an Occupy Wall Street guy, so right away you know that this could be a sort of staged Nazism that we’re seeing for the benefit of serving a narrative.”

“That info is right on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s website,” D’Souza said. According to SPLC, Kessler is a “relative newcomer to the white nationalist scene,” having made waves recently in an attempt to “unseat Charlottesville’s only black city councilman and for his status as a bridge between a Virginia gubernatorial candidate and the Alt-Right.” Kessler’s LinkedIn account notes that he graduated from the University of Virginia in 2009.  According to SPLC, Kessler is the author of a novel and a book of poetry, but was also convicted in 2005 for shoplifting, obstructing justice, and for a string of failures to appear and register, in addition to numerous traffic violations and citations.

SPLC noted that at a recent speech in favor of Charlottesville’s status as a sanctuary city, Kessler live-streamed himself as an attendee questioned him and apologized for an undisclosed spat during Kessler’s apparent involvement with Occupy Wall Street. Kessler appeared visibly perturbed by the woman’s presence.

Kessler also unearthed sexist, homophobic, and bigoted tweets by Charlottesville vice-mayor and Board of Education member Wes Bellamy. In December 2016, Kessler announced a petition demanding Bellamy step down or be removed “[i]n light of recently revealed anti-white, racist and pro-rape comments.”

On Wednesday, Bellamy announced that he was stepping down from the board of education.

Kessler told Alex Jones of InfoWars that he was once a supporter of Barack Obama until approximately two years ago. He became disenchanted with Obama, Kessler said, when Obama “conceded the White House” to radical left-wing cultural Marxists.
