The niece of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. Alveda King praised President Donald Trump for "leading the charge for civil rights today for the little unborn persons in the womb who have a right to live." Speaking on Fox News, King said that all human being have a right to life "from the womb to the tomb." She is the director of the pro-life campaign known as Civil Rights for the Unborn.
Last week, activist and commentator Star Parker tweeted that unborn black children also deserve a right to life. Agreeing with King, she wrote: "Black lives also matter in the womb. My friend, Alveda King, speaking for the unborn!"
King dismissed charges leveled at Trump by Democrats, who claim that he is engaging in racism. For example, Rep. John Lewis, (D-GA) -- who has long been one of the most notable voices in the Civil Rights movement, has called Trump "uncaring" and ignorant of civil rights. Lewis -- a member of both the Black Caucus and the Progressive Caucus -- was among the members of Congress who boycotted Trump's inauguration.
"He has surrounded himself with African-American leaders," King said. "At the African-American museum, for example, he was knowledgeable of much of the history of African-Americans" King praised Trump as a "compassionate" and "very brilliant man."
