CBS cited "source" in the U.S. intelligence community say that an attack is feared by the the Al-Qaeda Muslim terrorist organization in New York, Virginia, or Texas. Al-Qaeda was responsible for the deadly 9/11 attacks and has participated in the fighting in Syria where it seeks to overthrow the dictatorhip of President Bashr al-Assad.
 
According to CBS, the FBI released a statement emphasizing that no attack on November 7, the day before Election, Day, is confirmed. "The counterterrorism and homeland security communities remain vigilant and well-postured to defend against attacks here in the United States," the FBI said in a statement today. "The FBI, working with our federal, state and local counterparts, shares and assesses intelligence on a daily basis and will continue to work closely with law enforcement and intelligence community partners to identify and disrupt any potential threat to public safety." 
 
New York City Police are aware of the threat and are cooperating with state and federal officials in order to respond. According to Reuters, the non-specific threat is believed to be low-level.
