Tevin Steele, a 21-year-old native of Jamaica, was working on the streets of Portland, Jamaica, just a year ago, offering customers refreshing coconut milk from coconuts he chopped himself with a machete. But now he is counting his blessings as he embarks on a prospective career as a runway model. Tevin Steele was discovered Saint International boss Dwight Peters in December, and was seen at the annual  Yves Saint Laurent show in Paris modeling men’s fashions.
He told the Jamaica Observer from Paris that his experience “felt like a dream.” He added, “My mom told me to do my best and I know I did.”
A graduate of Seaforth High School, he worked alongside his mother Magarieta Belafonte, selling coconut drinks. Tevin’s mother is related to the 90-year-old Jamaican singer/entertainer Harry Belafonte.
On Friday, Tevin was preparing to return home to Jamaica. As to his future, he told the newspaper that he will “leave the rest in God’s hands.”
