The Long Island Press reported that 15-year-old Long Island NY girl who ran away from home was forced to work as a prostitute under the threat of violence for a week last month in a Queens house, where she was drugged and gang raped by four men before she escaped, New York City prosecutors said on March 8. A 22-year-old man who is the accused ringleader, a woman who posted the victim’s nude photos in Internet prostitution ads and four others have been indicted in connection with the case. Authorities said it all occurred inside an Ozone Park home.
“This is a horrific case in which the victim, a young girl, is alleged to have survived a nightmarish ordeal that included being drugged, gang raped and forced to work as a prostitute,” Queens County District Attorney Richard Brown said. “She is fortunate to have escaped.”
Gary Council was charged with kidnapping. He and the lone woman among those arrested, Andrea Furlonge (21), were indicted on prostitution and sex-trafficking charges. Junior Goldring (23), Omari Millington (21), and Renardo Williams (22), all of New York, were each charged with rape and criminal sexual act along with Council. Roy McMillan (24), was charged with using drug paraphernalia. In addition, all of the defendants were charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Prosecutors said Goldring picked up the victim on February 6, who was with a friend in Brooklyn NY, and conveyed her to the house in question where she was introduced to Council and McMillan. When the victim tried to leave, Council allegedly grabbed her and told her “You’re not going anywhere,” and forced her back into the dwelling. “You are going to stay here and make my money.”
Council allegedly told Furlonge that the victim was a “new girl” and ordered Furlonge to take her and “do what she had to do.” Allegedly, Furlonge then posted nude pictures of the victim and herself in backpage.com prostitution ads, authorities said.
The victim was allegedly forced to have carnal relations with men, the money for which was collected by Furlonge and given to Council, say authorities. Furlonge allegedly warned the girl to obey, lest Council unleash his violence. She was told not to cry so that Council would not be angered. The prosecutors allege that Millington and Council allegedly forced the victim to take two ecstasy pills on February 8, then raped and sodomized her.
It was not until February 12 that the girl was able to slip away. Council allegedly told her to go to get him something from a nearby store, and it was then that she made her escape.
The six suspects were arraigned on March 8 in Queens County court. Each faces up to 25 years in prison except McMillan, who faces up to 15 years.
