Former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich critiqued Anthony Scaramucci -- the new White House communications director. "I think that Scaracmucci had better be a lot more careful than he has been," the former presidential candidate told show host Laura Ingraham on her eponymous program. "He obviously likes the limelight, he obviously likes being in the media," Gingrich said. "I would say right now that he is being more pugnacious than effective, and I think he ought to slow down a little bit and learn what he's doing"
Gingrich was not pleased with an assertion Scaramucci's made that White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus was the source of leaks that have dogged the Trump administration.
"Where's his proof?" Gingrich asked. "I mean it's totally unhelpful to have somebody going around starting family fights in public."
"If he's going to be that divisive, I'm not sure he's going to be very useful to the president," he said.
Ingraham said that Scaramucci has accused Priebus of leaking his financial disclosure form. However, the POLITICO reporter who broke the story later admitted that she had used publicly available information that was obtained through official channels. "I think Scaramucci's full of himself," Gingrich said. "I think he got down here from New York, I think he's all excited, and I think he's frankly talking more than he's thinking."
