UPDATE: Police have released a photo of suspect James Eric Davis Jr.
Police in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, have identified James Eric Davis, Jr., as a person of interest in the shooting death of two persons on the campus of Central Michigan University on Friday. Police confirmed by late morning that the two deceased persons were not students at the university. Authorities believe that the shooting arose from a domestic dispute. Davis is at large. Michigan State Police are on the case. The victims of the shooting were Davis's parents: Diva Davis (47) and James Eric Davis, Sr. (48) Survivors in the family include Davis's high-school age sister and an older brother. The Davis family are from the Chicago area. The elder Davis was a part-time police officer for the Village of Bellwood outside Chicago.

Police confirmed that they had contact with Davis on Thursday evening. He was taken to McClaren Hospital in Mount Pleasant for a drug related incident. He was released to hospital staff. He is a sophmore at the university.
The campus continues on lock-down and all classes have been cancelled.
The person of interest is James Eric Davis, Jr. He is a black male, approximately 19 years of age, 5'10" & 135 lbs. He was last see wearing mustard yellow jeans and a blue hoodie. Davis is described as a 19-year-old black male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was alast seen wearing mustard yellow jeans and a blue hoodie. Various items of clothing, presumed to be his, were discovered near railroad tracks on Friday. Aerial surveillance suggests that he fled on foot. Davis is considered to be armed and dangerous. Students and the public have been warned to stay away from the suspect. Students on the campus were also instructed to take shelter.
Reports of shot fired first circulated at about 9 a.m. on Friday while students were preparing for their spring break. CMU authorities sent out an automated phone call to all students and faculty informing them of the incident, which took place on the fourth floor of Campbell Hall. On Twitter, CMU posted the following notice: “Please avoid Campbell Hall until we hear more information. We received an emergency alert of shots fired in Campbell Hall.”
