According to a poll conducted by POLITICO, Steve Bannon’s popularity among Republicans dropped dramatically after comments attributed to him were revealed in a new book by journalist Michael Wolff, “Fire and Fury.” In the book, Bannon was quoted as having severely criticized Donald Trump Jr. Bannon, who was a White House adviser to President Donald Trump, was later also fired from his position at Breitbart News.

According to POLITICO, the poll showed that only 19 percent of Republican voters in the poll registered a favorable view of Bannon. This represented a 13-percent drop in favorability from a little less than a month before, when 32 percent approved of Bannon. The poll was taken on January 4-5, and before Bannon’s falling from White House favor.

Of the Republicans polled, 46 percent had an unfavorable view of Bannon. This represented a 17-percent uptick from a similar poll that was conducted Dec. 14-18. Fifty-one percent of voters questioned in the poll as a whole showed an unfavorable opinion of Bannon, while 14 percent gave a favorable assessment. Thirty-five percent said they did not know or had no opinion.
