Sheriff Joe Arpaio backs Rick Perry

In an email sent to supporters from Rick Perry's presidential campaign, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Rick Perry will end the "dangerous Obama catch-and-release policy that allows thousands of illegal aliens to be released on American streets."

Sheriff Joe Arpaio is known for housing his prisoners in outdoor tents in the desert of Arizona and forces them to wear pink underwear.

Texas and Arizona border Mexico and are dealing with an influx of illegal immigration that is straining public services. Rick Perry is currently the governor of Texas.

US states along the border and in areas with a high concentration of illegal immigrants are often criticized for enforcing immigration law which is a power solely given to the Federal government by the US Constitution.

Arpaio claims Rick Perry as president, will "secure the border in just one year."
