In a Sunday tweet, President Donald Trump wrote that Democrats and Russians are "laughing" over the current Russia investigations, but did not spare Republicans. Trump wrote that the GOP is doing "very little" to protect him. He also wrote that the Russia probes amount to a "Witch Hunt."

Trump wrote: “As the phony Russian Witch Hunt continues, two groups are laughing at this excuse for a lost election taking hold, Democrats and Russians!”

As for the GOP, Trump was unsparing in his criticism. He tweeted, “It's very sad that Republicans, even some that were carried over the line on my back, do very little to protect their President.”

Special Counsel Robert Mueller, the FBI, and two Congressional panels continue to investigate Trump and his family members, as well as some of his associates over allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. The intelligence community has concluded that Russia sought to influence the 2016 election process through a combination of hacking and disinformation.

Donald Trump Jr., the president eldest son, and his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort may not be forced to testify next week to the Congressional panels conducting the Russia probe. Senate Judiciary Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and the committee’s top Democrat, Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, are seeking documents from Manafort and Trump Jr. On Monday, Jared Kushner -- Trump's son-in-law and top White House aide -- is slated to speak behind closed doors with the Senate intelligence committee. On Tuesday, he will speak to the House intelligence committee.
