Potential evidence has emerged on Twitter that Hillary Clinton may have been informed about a supposed wiretap at Trump Tower prior to the November 8 presidential election. Over the March 4-5 weekend, President Trump accused Barack Obama of having called for a wiretap at Trump Tower. Trump's critics have pointed out that a wiretap would require an official request to the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Court for authorization.

In tweets on Hillary Clinton's account from 2016, there emerges evidence that requests were indeed made to the court for eavesdropping. The first request to the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Court was sent immediately after Barack Obama’s attorney general, Loretta Lynch, met with former president Bill Clinton on the tarmac of the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in June 2016. The meeting caused considerable speculation and rumors about the nature of the discussion between Obama's attorney general and the former president.

A second request to the Federal Intelligence Surveillance Court request was submitted that October, before the election. Hillary Clinton issued a tweet on October 31 that said that “computer scientists have uncovered a covert server linking the Trump organization to a Russian-based server.”

An October 31 tweet by Clinton aide Jake Sullivan read:

"This could be the most direct link yet between Donald Trump and Moscow. Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a Russian-based bank.

"This could be the most direct link yet between Donald Trump and Moscow. Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a  Russian-based bank.

"This secret hotline may be the key to unlocking the mystery of Trump's ties to Russia. It certainly seems the Trump Organization felt it had something to hide, given that it apparently took steps to conceal the link when it was discovered by journalists.

"The line of communication may help explain Trump's bizarre adoration of Vladimir Putin and endorsement of so many pro-Kremlin positions throughout this campaign. It raises even more troubling questions in light of Russia's masterminding of hacking efforts that are clearly intended to hurt Hillary Clinton's campaign. We can only assume that federal authorities will now explore this direct connection between Trump and Russia as part of their existing probe into Russia's meddling in our election."
