People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), a controversial animal rights organization, released a video that suggests that cow’s milk is actually a symbol of white racism. In a tweet, PETA asked rhetorically, “Did you know that milk has long been a symbol used by white supremacists?” PETA has also labeled cow's milk a "Cruel and Unhealthy Product."
PETA uploaded the video to Twitter, which features movie director and comedian Jordan Peele. He is quoted as saying, “There’s something kind of horrific about milk. Think about it. Think about what we’re doing. It’s kind of gross.” Peele is the director of a new movie, “Get Out,” which deals with his perspective on white racism.
Not explained in the video is whether milk from other sources is also objectionable. Ewes, nanny goats, and mares produce milk for human consumption, while vegans can enjoy substitutes made from soy nuts, cashews, almonds, and tiger nuts. Tiger nuts, known as chufas in Spanish, is made into a delectable beverage enjoyed throughout Spain and Latin America, as well as Nigeria.
