First Lady Melania Trump tweeted her thanks to actress Emily Ratajkowski for her support when a New York Times reporter called the first lady a "hooker."

"Applause to all women around the world who speak up, stand up and support other women!" Trump tweeted to Ratajkowski. Ratajkowski severely criticized an unnamed NYT reporter in a Twitter post. Allegedly, the reporter called Trump "a hooker" at a fashion show.
"Whatever your politics it's crucial to call this out for what it is: slut shaming," Ratajkowski tweeted, "I don't care about her nudes or sexual history and no one should." She added, "Gender specific attacks are disgusting sexist bullshit."

Melania Trump is suing the Daily Mail over a story published in August 2016 that alleged that she -- a former model -- had been an escort in the 1990s. The Daily Mail had referenced a story published in the first lady's native Slovenia that asserted that the modeling agency for which she worked oncer doubled as an escort service.

Several media outlets have retracted and apologized for repeating the Daily Mail's claims, while the Daily Mail has removed the story from its website.
