I was searching for the name of the person who wrote the poem from Navy Seals:
“I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.”
And I came across this other Lawrence quote:
“This is the very worst wickedness, that we refuse to acknowledge the passionate evil that is in us. This makes us secret and rotten.”
Agree or disagree? Why or why not?

But this to is true, that Satan goes after the very good and tries to tempt them into sin and he uses friends or relatives and even church friends.That is why we are told to put on the whole armour of Christ and to fight the good fight and always be prepared because your advocate the devil sneaks around seeking whom ever he may to devour. |

I believe we all should acknowledge that there is a great potential for good or for evil within each one of us, and that potential seems to multiply as we band together. But each of us chooses whether to bring that potential to fruition.
"Total depravity" is a doctrine that can bring a sinner to repentance, but it can actually do damage to a Christian spirit. Christ redeemed us - not just our spirits but our very nature. We're each at some stage of that redemption, but once Jesus enters into a heart and mind and spirit, any kind of "passionate evil" that may have dwelt there is redeemed by His Passion. |
