The Jews, the true authority and interpreters of Eden, saw mankind’s gain of knowledge as an elevation in their struggle to understand God. Israel [as understood by Hebrews, = he strives with God]. Strive can be read as to mean to work either with or against. Jews equated God more with a source of knowledge than a source of command that must be obeyed. This is shown by archetypal Moses ignoring God’s law of divorce.
Being a Gnostic Christian, my view goes to following the Jewish view for two basic reasons. They have more authority over the O. T. than Christians and secondly, they give our creation, beginning and God a happy ending for our passage through Eden. True evil had yet to manifest itself to that point in time.
Christians on the other hand, with their view of Eden as man’s fall, cannot see a perfect heaven without evil. God fails on this issue and admits it by casting Satan out.

In Noah’s day, God repented from his sins. He missed the mark and admits it by destroying most of mankind and animal kind with an immoral genocide. God fails on this issue as well.

We cannot today know why Christianity reversed some of the Jewish thinking when embracing the O. T. and it’s God and going from man’s elevation to man’s fall.
Should Christians consider following that good Jewish example and do as other cultures have done as shown by Joseph Campbell and seek a messiah the way most Jews do?
If not, then Christians will have to learn to live in a world where their God can be accurately described like this.

Dawkins and most Jews call the bible fiction. Jews can thus get around this accurate description of God by just admitting the truth. It is all myth and metaphor. Literalist and fundamental Christians cannot and I think that over time this rather ugly God will kill Christianity.
At one time the Christian God of the gaps may have had a role to play for us but man has moved on. Christians should perhaps do the same and seek their true God.

No one wishes hell on anyone. It does exist and people make the choice. Two roads in life each person chooses one. The only reason we talk about it. Is because we don't want people to go there.
You can't feel sadness in heaven. I can't explain what heaven is going to be like. Just take your happiest moment in your entire life. Then multiply it by million. It should be something like that.
If someone chooses evil and rejects God. If God sees fit they go to hell after rejecting him. Well you will side with God. He is just and knows better then I or you.
Your trying to understand God. That's never going to happen. You must trust in him. He knows what is best and he does what is best. He loves everyone more then you or I or the world combined does.
It's hard to think God would send anyone to hell. You have to understand he will not force heaven on you. That's no longer your choice. He gives you free will. He isn't going to throw you into heaven and force you to love him. That's not true love. If he puts you into heaven it's no longer your choice to love God or not. He wants you to chose of your own free will. He does not want a robot as a child.

Better to shovel coal in hell than to spend eternity in heaven watching friends, neighbors and our children in torture and flame forever.
Only a sick mind would conceive of such a situation or wish it upon anyone. That is why God would not do such because then, heaven would be hell.
If those in heaven did not go insane then they could not have once been human or good.
You should think of hell just a bit and recognize that God would not create such an immoral construct. Lose your barbaric tribal mentality. We are in 2012, not 112.

Amen, I will profit from his murder at your hands. He gave His life as an example for us. I choose to learn from it, you make it a waste.
Jesus died and rose again. You are the one who makes it count for nothing.
Jesus was a real person. He lived. He walked the earth. And now He reigns forever. You make it like He was tortured and killed and left to rot in the ground. What a horrible person you are to think that is preferable.
An eye for an eye was God solution in a wicked world. To show that justice should be met with consideration of the harm done. An eye for an eye was very fair and just in a world where the loss of an eye on one side of an argument could cost the lives of an entire family or tribe on the other.
God is just. In a world where parents sacrificed their children for better crops, God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son, and then said STOP, because God wanted to show that HE was not like the man-made gods of the Pagans.
You do not understand because you never bothered to really try - the Bible did not occur in a vacuum and too many, like you, try to view it through 21st century eyes, without any thought to what was happening in the day. Without any consideration of what kind of people lived in that ancient world. Every stage in the Bible is a progression to modern civilization. What we enjoy today comes from those roots. That you can look back in horror is only because of the luxury of having been born later, when the world was a better place because of the influence of Christianity.
It is still not perfect, and in some respects we are degenerating again, but only because we are moving away from God. The Bible even warned this would happen. You don't see what is coming. And even while it is happening, you will rejoice because you will not understand. And when it finally sinks in, it will be too late for many. |

Ya hell sucks Gods judgment is just. If you die with a level of sinfulness were you would be sent to hell. Your going to want to go to hell rather then show your face to God. You don't understand just how bad people can descrate the image of God and how bad it is. If you only knew what you were and how sacred your body is.
You think no one deserves hell. If you felt how disgusting your sin was. You rather jump head first into hell then show your face to God.
No one deserves heaven in the end. If you only knew what God was giving you and how bad it is to spit in his face and reject it.

I'm full of hate? Lol silly child your talking to a guy who would forgive and love a person who killed a family member of mine. Yet you say you would excute him an eye for an eye style. So who is full of hate?
The eye for an eye law was set in place as a moderation on violence not a law for violence. Back then if you killed someone's brother for example. The man would go much behond that and kill the man that killed his brother and then his whole family and maybe his friends too. That law was never placed to force an eye for an eye but to limit it to an eye for an eye.
People had hardened hearts back then. So they couldn't forgive easily. Jesus came to unhearden are hearts and show us how to love and forgive.
In the end an eye for an eye was never placed to enforce violence but to limit it. What's good or evil. To love and forgive. Or to hate and kill. I guess you like to hate and kill.
The bible doesn't lie. People's screwed up interpretations of it make it out to lie.

I don't know why i'm still responding to this nonsense but whatever here goes.
You don't want to forgive. Instead of taking the higher road as a victim and behaving as are father in heaven. You rather take revenge. Two wrongs don't make a right. If someone kills my brother I don't go kill their brother. God calls us to be better than that. Forgive them and if they repent of the crime and are truly sorry let it go. Just as are father doesn't hold are sins against us. If they don't repent feel sorry for them. They shall recieve much worse then they did to you. Leave it to God.
You don't like the idea of hell too bad. God doesn't condem you to hell. You condem yourself to hell. It's all in your hands you make the choice. God gives you the gift. If you spit in his face and reject him. It's you choice in the end. You are given to roads. One to hell and one to heaven. God doesn't force you down one road or the other. So you condem yourself to hell not God.

Jesus forgiving sin is unjust to Victim.
Sin, by it’s very nature must have a victim. Without a victim, there is no sin.
The one sinned against has the first right of forgiveness.
If Jesus usurps that right then I think it would be unjust.
Closure is being denied the victim thus victimizing is twofold.
Jesus would not condone such a thing.
Secular law now demands a victim assessment report before sentence is given.
To think that Jesus would ignore this requirement is unthinkable.
This means that, “Why have you forsaken me? “, is answered by God with; because what you do is immoral. You deny the victim her or his rights. It is also unjust to punish the innocent instead of the guilty. In fact, that notion is insane.
In the scenario shown here the victim is ignored thus showing the flaw in the judge’s ruling, if he accepts substitutionary atonement or a sacrificial lamb.

Chastity is an acquired ability of the will. The more your mind wills it, the more God provides the grace for you to continue practicing it.
