I would like to highly recommend a tape/CD series that would be perfect to give out to Protestant friends or to get better informed on Martin Luther - the personality that sparked the Protestant Revolt, errr I mean Reformaion.

Saint Joseph Communications - Luther: The Rest of the Story by KEN HENSLEY

I like this guy! He gave a very fair, but Catholic perspective of Martin Luther and the principles behind the Reformation. He was a Baptist pastor for over 11 years, and has some penetrating insights into the Protestant mindset.

Luthers revolt would have been short lived had not the ground been fertile.

I'm sort of leaning that Luther didn't revolt. He was kicked out and then formed heretical views.

But, why follow someone and therefore abandon the Church which gave us the Trinity, our creeds, and the Bible? You should question why these are still sacrosanct to you if you reject the Catholic Church.

I recommend reading Iraeneus.

No one denies reform was needed. We even had a Vatican II in the 1960s but no theological split.

Xavier,

Why do you trust the Catholic Church's decision to formulate creeds and doctrines and the NT which you hold, yet reject some others?

The Church invented the Trinity, eh?

"The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do" Matthew 23: 2 & 3. Christ says this eventhough he believes the Pharisees are "serpents" and "vipers". Matthew 23: 33.

Why does he say this? "they sit in Moses' seat". Peter was given the keys to the kingdom in Chapter 16. Even when human weakness rears its ugly head the divine grace bestowed upon the Chair of Peter will be maintained by the Holy Spirit and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.

There will always be "fertile ground" and pretexts for submitting to pride and disobediance.

First of all Im part of Christ Church and myself along with those that believe as I do. the gates of hell will not prevail against Christs Church. Be sure your foundation is built on Christ because all,
all else will perish.

Christ Church is not some building built by the blood and tears and fears of peasants who feared men who used the keys that Christ gave them to do evil instead did good.

Rome was full of pride and disobedience in that day.

No, your not a part of Christ's Church. You profess to believe in Christ but not his Church. You sever the Church from Christ.

Rome was full of pride and disobedience in that day.

What's difference between Luther and the Church then?

I think he meant he is a part of Christ's body of believers.
