So Galileo was wrong all along and as per usual the Bible and the Church and Cardinal Bellamine were right,so why did the Church apologise to Galileo and doubt itself and the inerrant Bible. This was wrong - see www.fixedearth.com - any comments - jimc

Sometimes folks get so set in their ways that they do not want to think of things in any other way. Their minds are made up and facts will only confuse them.

Malachi 1:11 "For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name [shall be] great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense [shall be] offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name [shall be] great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts."

When has the planet mars ever appeared as a crescent? It also means that we should have venus showing full in the night sky at times as well, and not just lingering around the horizon as a crescent. Also we should have mars eclipses, when mars is between the earth and sun like we do with venus...

mikejuli - go over to one of the many creation websites and pose the question and come back and let us know the answer and whether you agree or not and why etc - jimc

I have been an astronomer since I was young. I have owned many telescopes. I have seen many things. With my large telescope I went out the night that the comet impacted Jupiter & watched the comet make impact marks on the surface of Jupiter. I watched Comet Hyakutake pass by the earth in 1996 as it was orbiting around the sun, I saw it from the everglades 80 miles from lights of Miami as it spanned 80 degrees across the sky & took pictures. When I zoomed in on it with my telescope on high power we could actually see it moving across the sky in relation to the stars behind it. I have watched many meteor showers over the years. I watched the great Leonid meteor shower of 2001 caused by material from comet Temple, from a 6000 ft mountain peak, with more than 100,000 meteors per hour visable.

Meteor showers that happen annually on a specific date on the calender each year would make no sense if the earth was the center of the solar system.

I have seen the moons of Jupiter get in between the sun & Jupiter & cast shadows on Jupiter. I have watched Jupiter rotate over the period of hours watching the great read spot rise & set through my telescope.

The earth standing still makes no sense. What about retrograde motion of the planets?

Mikejuli/Michael-rather than rely on individual opinions and conclusions and qualifications we as Catholics were advised by Pope Pius XII TO CONSULT THE EXPERTS AND SPECIALISTS.For Catholics these can be found at www.DaylightOrigins.com and www.kolbecenter.org - also try www.geocentrism.com - jimc

Do you just like to argue? really? Those sites are clearly ignorant.

When networks of professional & amateur astronomers plot orbits of comets, then I go out & watch what they plotted with my telescope. I dont see how it could get any more clear than that.

If you are actually trying to convince people to reject what is true in exchange for the untruth at those links you provided its evil & self destructive. Your not hurting me your hurting your own self.

Explain the 4 seasons right now jimc while at the same time maintaining the earth is not moving. Its up to you to prove it.

If you honestly believe that Pope Pius XII instructed all Catholics to consult the experts and specialists, then why do you persist in resisting his instructions?

You have been consulting fringe groups who have only one who is even in the right field, and not one of them is an expert in any of the relevant fields being discussed.

Until you take the time to actually consult with relevant experts and specialists, then no one here can take you seriously.

no they cannot be found at those pseudo science sites.... only conspiracy theories will be found there. sorry... but if that passes as experts and speciallists to you then fine... but pope pius xxii never mentioned them.
