Your God is your ultimate barrier to finding the Godhead.

The Jews, the true authority and interpreters of Eden, saw mankind’s gain of knowledge as an elevation in their struggle to understand God. Israel [as understood by Hebrews, = he strives with God]. Strive can be read as to mean to work either with or against. Jews equated God more with a source of knowledge than a source of command that must be obeyed. This is shown by archetypal Moses ignoring God’s law of divorce.

Being a Gnostic Christian, my view goes to following the Jewish view for two basic reasons. They have more authority over the O. T. than Christians and secondly, they give our creation, beginning and God a happy ending for our passage through Eden. True evil had yet to manifest itself to that point in time.

Christians on the other hand, with their view of Eden as man’s fall, cannot see a perfect heaven without evil. God fails on this issue and admits it by casting Satan out.

Christians cannot see a perfect Eden on earth without evil. God fails on this issue and admits it by casting Adam and Eve out.

In Noah’s day, God repented from his sins. He missed the mark and admits it by destroying most of mankind and animal kind with an immoral genocide. God fails on this issue as well.

Did the Jews win in their striving against God to a point where they could judge him?
I think so thanks to Moses and the divorce laws.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx7irFN2gdI

We cannot today know why Christianity reversed some of the Jewish thinking when embracing the O. T. and it’s God and going from man’s elevation to man’s fall.

Should Christians consider following that good Jewish example and do as other cultures have done as shown by Joseph Campbell and seek a messiah the way most Jews do?

If not, then Christians will have to learn to live in a world where their God can be accurately described like this.

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”
? Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion

Dawkins and most Jews call the bible fiction. Jews can thus get around this accurate description of God by just admitting the truth. It is all myth and metaphor. Literalist and fundamental Christians cannot and I think that over time this rather ugly God will kill Christianity.

At one time the Christian God of the gaps may have had a role to play for us but man has moved on. Christians should perhaps do the same and seek their true God.

Brother you do not know what your are doing or saying. You like proof.

1. Shroud of turin (Jesus rose from the dead) No man can explain it or reproduce it. It was Jesus. (Please explain this if you want to be continue to be gnostic.)

2. Fatima happened less than 100 years ago. As a sign for the people the SUN came down they felt it's warmth it dried all their clothes. It had just rained before. 300 thousand people saw it. (Please explain this if you want to continue to be gnostic.)

3. Here you want to see really bad the spiritual world exists. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m8UNKD2RQM Watch half way in Mary appears in the sun. (please explain this if you want to continue to be gnostic.)

Brother if you don't believe that's up to you. Why are you on these forums? I'm going to be harsh but you need it. Shut up and get off these forum. You don't know what you are doing. If you don't believe that's up to you keep it to yourself. DO NOT TRY TO DRAG PEOPLE INTO YOUR DARKNESS AND AWAY FROM Christ. That is just plain evil.

It's fine for me I don't mind your nonsense you sprout off. My faith can't be shaken by anything on earth. I fear for my brothers and sisters who may not be as strong as I. If by an off chance you confuse one of my brothers or sisters away from Christ and into your darkness that your currently living. You will be pouring judgment on yourself.

What your saying is evil. you deny are lord Jesus. I don't mind Protestants trying to debate us. At least they have Christ and some of the truth. I rather someone be a good Protestant than a bad Catholic. (good Catholics are number 1 though )

I don't know if your angry or jealous of are faith or what but keep your Gnosticism to yourself. You don't know what your being a tool for. Don't try to hurt any of my brothers and sisters and get out.

Here i'll embarrass myself for you. Everyone may think i'm crazy after this but okay whatever. Maybe you will listen. Ill give it a shot. The spiritual world exists I have seen it. Here is a little of my life and how I saw it.

I grew up in a none religious house. I went to church twice a year when I was younger. As I grew up into my teens I fell into the evil of porn (99% of men are falling into this now) This was very damaging. Then I found Jesus and oh man when you knock on that door does he answer. After diving into my faith I saw how evil I was. So Filthy was I that I want to cry just thinking of it. After much prayer Jesus MY LORD AND SAVIOR FREED ME from evil. My father and mother were with me in my darkest times and with me as they freed me. I was deaf, blind, and dumb walking in the darkness and now I can see and i'm free.

That story had a point. It was after I was freed I was given a gift. I was shown what I had been fighting. Mark 16:9 ''he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons'' Ya I saw THEMand they came out of me. I tell you they truly exist. From first hand experience. This world is at warand I rather die then go back into the darkness. You may not believe it but don't be a tool for evil brother. Keep your nonsense to yourself. I tell you this knowing your going to think i'm insane. I don't really care believe or don't believe that's on you. I love you but please stop sprouting this nonsense and keep it to yourself.

I can see the trash talk by god4me coming already. lol

Oh man i'm probably going to get a-lot of trash from god4me. lol

When you sin you wound your soul. Grave sins leave big wounds. Evil enters in those big wounds. You may not see it you may not believe it. THEY are all around us. (I don't see demons everywhere just to clear that up but I did see what use to be in me.) To anyone committing grave sin you must stop it and fight it to the death. And please shield your children from this world. Raise them in the faith. This world is wicked. We can be one click away from committing mortal sin.

You want to know if Jesus is the son of God. Knock on the door. Get on your knees and pray. Really ask from the bottom of your heart. If he is God. He will do the rest but you must ask. If you only knew how much he loved you. Just extend your hand to him. He will pull you in.
Sorry I said to leave the forums but please don't spread your nonsense. I know why you are here deep down you just want to believe.
I will pray for you too my brother. I can feel your pain. I have been in the darkness.

You reject Christ and then call yourself a "Gnostic Christian"?

On your other post you expressed yourself as an aethist, with distain for God.

Today you're following Gnosticism.

You're digging up a dead heresy and placing your belief system upon it.

quote:
Gnosticism was not an advance, it was a retrogression.

It was born amidst the last throes of expiring cults and civilizations in Western Asia and Egypt.

Though hellenized, these countries remained Oriental and Semitic to the core.

This Oriental spirit — Attis of Asia Minor, Istar of Babylonia, Isis of Egypt, with the astrological and cosmogonic lore of the Asiatic world — first sore beset by Ahuramazda in the East, and then overwhelmed by the Divine greatness of Jesus Christ in the West, called a truce by the fusion of both Parseeism and Christianity with itself.

It tried to do for the East what Neo-Platonism tried to do for the West.

During at least two centuries it was a real danger to Christianity, though not so great as some modern writers would make us believe, as if the merest breath might have changed the fortunes of Gnostic, as against orthodox, Christianity.

Similar things are said of Mithraism and neo-Platonism as against the religion of Jesus Christ. But these sayings have more piquancy than objective truth.

Christianity survived, and not Gnosticism, because the former was the fittest — immeasurably, nay infinitely, so.

Gnosticism died not by chance, but because it lacked vital power within itself; and no amount of theosophistic literature, flooding English and German markets, can give life to that which perished from intrinsic and essential defects.

It is striking that the two earliest champions of Christianity against Gnosticism — Hegesippus and Irenaeus — brought out so clearly the method of warfare which alone was possible, but which also alone sufficed to secure the victory in the conflict, a method which Tertullian some years later scientifically explained in his "De Praescriptione".

Both Hegesippus and Irenaeus proved that Gnostic doctrines did not belong to that deposit of faith which was taught by the true succession of bishops in the primary sees of Christendom; both in triumphant conclusion drew up a list of the Bishops of Rome, from Peter to the Roman bishop of their day; as Gnosticism was not taught by that Church with which the Christians everywhere must agree, it stood self-condemned.

I'd suggest that you waste no more time in drought, and that you promptly get yourself next to Christ's "Living Water" so that you can find roots, growth and eternal life for your soul.

The New Testament fulfills the Old Testament. Jesus' New Covenant fulfills God the Father's Old Covenant.

The theologic connection shared between Gnosticism and Marcionism.

Okay ill answer your silly questions. You don't believe in anything. So I don't see how you will like my answers.

''Christians on the other hand, with their view of Eden as man’s fall, cannot see a perfect heaven without evil. God fails on this issue and admits it by casting Satan out.''

''Christians cannot see a perfect Eden on earth without evil. God fails on this issue and admits it by casting Adam and Eve out.''

1. God didn't fail we failed. Free will given to us we chose evil. God does not want robots as children. Being angry at are father for are mistakes is childish.

''In Noah’s day, God repented from his sins. He missed the mark and admits it by destroying most of mankind and animal kind with an immoral genocide. God fails on this issue as well.''

2. God can't sin silly. Noah's age was pure evil on earth. They deserve being destroyed.

''Did the Jews win in their striving against God to a point where they could judge him?
I think so thanks to Moses and the divorce laws.''

3. Ask a Jew if they think they can judge God. for you answer.

'' We cannot today know why Christianity reversed some of the Jewish thinking when embracing the O. T. and it’s God and going from man’s elevation to man’s fall. ''

''Should Christians consider following that good Jewish example and do as other cultures have done as shown by Joseph Campbell and seek a messiah the way most Jews do?''

The entire old O. T. should be renamed JESUS IS COMING. Everything in the O. T. links to Jesus. It was all written for Jesus. The O. T. doesn't even make sense without Jesus. I have no clue why Jews to this day don't except Jesus. They are waiting for a messiah that has already come and conquered. No messiah is coming silly. Unless you count Jesus and his second coming.

Jesus completed every messianic prophecy. You think Jesus wasn't the messiah that's on you. The entire O. T. has Jesus's name written all over it thousands of years before he came. You like number? Chances of Jesus fulfilling every messianic prophecy is 1 in a 10 to the 157th power. That's a 1 in a number 10 with 157 zeros behind it. here ill write it out for you. 1 IN 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
I think just maybe Jesus is a good bet if you like numbers. If you say Jesus didn't exist. Well good luck explaining the shroud of turin since you like evidence. If you want to ignore the rest of history recording Jesus and the whole new testament.

You think it's a myth that's on you. If anything the new testament props the O.T. the chances of all this being written before Jesus came are the chances linked above. You also ignore every miracle to happen that science can't even begin to explain. The thousands of people seeing Jesus and Mary. The thousands of people that have died and come back. Explaining what happened when they died. If you want to just go around calling everyone a liar and or insane. Well you can live in denial that's on you. We can't debate you when you don't except anything we say to you. We can't make you believe in Jesus. It's up to you to knock on his door. You want to find out get on your knees. Humble yourself for 10 minutes truly pray and ask him. Is Jesus the son of God. Ask truly seeking the truth and he will answer you. Ill pray for you too.

You seem offended at the notion of judging God yet you yourself seem to have judged him.
You have jdged him good. Is reciprocity not allowed?

Care to clarify?

You also say that all those of Noah's day chose evil over good. Why did God make the evil so appealing that only 8 out of million will chose good?

I am less then a grain of sand compared to God (no a grain of sand would be too good)a word doesn't exist to describe my lowliness compared to God. If God says he is the way the truth and the life. Who am I to say otherwise. If God says he is love and justice. Who am I to say anything to God. God says he is goodness. Who am I to judge what is good or bad. I have been told what is good or bad. I trust God over what myself thinks is good or bad.

By saying you can judge God. You put yourself at his level. Yes that is offensive. Do you think you can even begin to fathom God? Let alone judge him?

Not only 8 out of a million people are good silly. There is much good in this world we just don't see much of it. Because the darkness overshadows good. Do you see when a person is selfless and gives his only 20 in his wallet to a homeless man? Or do you see the evil terrorist bomber on TV?

This whole why is there evil in the world or why are people evil is sad. People make choices in this life. God gives you free will. He is not going to force himself on you.

Why is it so easy to be evil? People only care about themselves. God is the only goodness in people. He shows you how to behave and what is good. He will never force you into being good. He loves you too much. What you want is to take away everyone's free will to be good or bad. That's not love God wants love not robots.

DL,

Free will allows us independent choice.

Either we guide off our Creator (who knows the way, the truth and the life that provide ultimate happiness) or we chose a lesser god.

The unfortuneate truth is, that in the absence of God's protection, there is pure spiritual Evil waiting for our souls.

We can avoid that truth (Evil hopes that we will).

My prayers for you are that you find reconciliation with yourself, your family and with the Trinity. If you are a Catholic, find a Catholic counselor or spiritual advisor with whom you can discuss.

We were talking Noah's day. Not now.

"By saying you can judge God. You put yourself at his level."

Not necessarily but even if true, that would just mean that you have placed yourself at his level because you have judged him.

Since you have judge him to be worthy of your respect, what is wrong with others judging him as well even if they do not agree with your judgement.

So why can you judge and others cannot?

Christians are always trying to absolve God of moral culpability in the fall by whipping out their favorite "free will!", or “ it’s all man’s fault”.

That is "God gave us free will and it was our free willed choices that caused our fall. Hence God is not blameworthy."

But this simply avoids God's culpability as the author of Human Nature. Free will is only the ability to choose. It is not an explanation why anyone would want to choose "A" or "B" (bad or good action). An explanation for why Eve would even have the nature of "being vulnerable to being easily swayed by a serpent" and "desiring to eat a forbidden fruit" must lie in the nature God gave Eve in the first place. Hence God is culpable for deliberately making humans with a nature-inclined-to-fall, and "free will" means nothing as a response to this problem.

It does not explain why only 8 out of millions would choose evil and statistically speaking, that is impossible if good and evil are equal in us.
Any statistician would tell you that it appears that there is much more evil in us than good and as the creator, God is getting what he created us to be.

DL,

God created the environment to support us. And then, He created us.

Choice is an action with provides us with the ability to be priest, prophet and king in our own lives, in connection with God.

It isn't right to be petulant about this great gift.

God wants each of us to be fulfilled in our lives, but with boundaries. He knows better than we, what Satan has in store for our souls.

You will only have your body a short time and then it will be gone.
