Holy Water Fonts for Homes

Posted on 08/10/2012 at 17:09:16  |  Reply  |  Report Abuse |  0
I picked up a nice little cherub font for my entryway today. Does anyone here use these for their homes?

I had fun making a vessel for the holy water, so I'm thinking about making my own font, too - something bigger than the one I just bought (it doesn't hold much water, so I figured I could use it for my bedroom instead). Any artsy-craftsy Catholics here with suggestions?

I'm not exactly the artsy type aC however if your home has not been blessed by a priest, it may be a good idea to do so if you are to have a font in your home.
One of the most beautiful home blessings is the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Basically you and the members of your household make a covenant to Him, acknowledging that He will always be the true Head of your home.
While we're on the subject of Holy water, it should be changed at least every other week. If you have access to the sacrarium at your Church, it should be disposed of there. If not, it may be returned to the Earth in a specific spot designated for this purpose.
But I'm probably not telling you anything you don't already know.

Christians dont need So-called Holy water as they have the real God, The Holy Spirit's Anointing.

But catholics need external things as they don't have God.

[1]A priest is a devil inspired man made unscriptural office, So how in the world can he bless a home??.

[2]For a catholic to make a true covenant with God and for God to be the head of their home, They would have to get saved, But they would rather stay a catholic then get saved.

What a load of religious ritual nonesense, REAL Christians dont need external things as we have the living God inside us.

Thank you, heavenlysecrets. Good advice. I actually just read where you are supposed to return it to the earth.

And thank you, g4, for giving me yet another reminder of how blessed I am for being Catholic.

I don't have a holy water font in my home but, I've traditionally sprinkled holy water in the various rooms - sometimes a few times a year. My Church has 6,000 registered families and only one priest right now. While I'd like to ask him to bless my new home, I think he has more important things to do.

Do you have any blessed salt?

If a priest is not available a deacon or any professed religious will do. With the Enthronement blessing, a deacon will be fine. Blessed salt is a powerful sacramental used to dispel demons and evil spirits. Unless a murder or something equally reprehensible occurred on the spot (suicide, rape) Holy water would work fine. Some people sprinkle Blessed salt around abortion clinics and such but this is discouraged by many priests. Ask your priest for some if you need it. He may look at you funny and ask a couple of questions. Persist. Maybe he will even come to bless your new home.

I understand. I just would feel badly given all he has to do. I could probably ask a deacon.

I've kept blessed salt in my home for decades.

James 5:14, “Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and ANOINT HIM WITH OIL in the name of the Lord”.

Yeah, Catholics need external things and they are once again in line with the Bible while God4me is once again off side.

John 9:6-7, “When he had said this, he spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva and smeared the clay on his eyes, and said to him, Go wash in the Pool of Siloam (which means Sent). So he went and washed, and came back able to see.

Aha, once again by making use of external things Catholics are on the side of Jesus, while God4me is on the other side.

[1]Numbers is in the OT.
[2]OIl isn't water.
[3]There are priestly duties in the TRUE Church as every Christian is a priest unto God, WAKE UP.
[4]Jesus did what God told Him to do, Thats why He made clay.

You don't know the Bible at all..DO YOU.

And the Old Testament is part of the Bible. It seems you are no longer a Bible-believer.

But it is an external; that is my point. You said Catholics need external things as they don’t have God but James knocked you down almost immediately by proposing the use of external things like oil.

That is not what the Bible says. The Bible mentions exclusively the ministers as the ones with priestly duties . Next time care to read the Bible before responding.

In other words, unlike you, God does not hate external things. I wonder why you are not worried by the fact that you are constantly diametrically opposing God himself.

Yes, you know that and we all know by now that you omniscient just like those mentioned in Matthew 7:22-23. They were also sure they knew, but shock awaited them:

"Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?' Then I will declare to them solemnly, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers."
