The Fall of the Jewish Temple in 70 A.D.

Someone recently asked me what the impact was on the Church of the fall of the Jewish temple in 70 A.D., and I have to confess I have no idea. I know documents from that time period are few and far between, but does anyone here know about this era? Could you point me to any web sites that are good resources for studying this era?

An interesting question, Diana! I'll have alook around and see what I can find, but off the top of my head, I guess it served to separate any psycological links that may have lingered within Christianity with Judaism. Since Israel was no more, so the Church could have no doubts that she was, indeed, the New Israel.

I'll see what Goodgle has got to offer....

There's an 1983 article by Scott at www.preteristarchive, under jewish wars, that my be of interest. But surprizingly little else, at this early stage in searching.

I'll continue to look....

Thanks, philial... there are a couple of interesting documents there. I skimmed them and will come back and read them sometime soon.

This was the destruction of Jerusalem that Christ told of when he said that there shall not be one stone left upon another. When the Romans came in, they thought that all the gold was hidden between the very large stones of the temple wall so therefore they did what Christ said they would do and searched every space between by tearing it down one very large piece at a time. This is the "diaspora"...the dispersion of the Jewish people into all the nations and marked the end of the nation of Israel until the remarkable events of 1948.
