Wikipedia has a detailed list of the multiple Ecumenical Councils held by the Catholic Church prior to the year 600 (your favorite date).
By the year 600, the Council had already formed into a universal system and met in separate individual sessions well over 30 times to combat various heresies.
As the saying goes, "a mind is a terrible thing to waste."
In addition, you can also pull up a detailed list of each man who served in the seat of authority in Christ's Church from St. Peter on.

It's obvious that you not know the holy spirit let alone be led by god.. You are led by anti catholic polemic and this shows.
See how easy it is to play your game? Easy. I'm sorry to have to point out the error of your ways, and not surprised that you would try to blame me for your manipulation. It's what manipultors do child.
I have been ridiculed and abused by Roman Catholics here. I have not ridiculed Catholics, but proven that their religion is based on falsities.
It might be easy for you to continue ridicule, but that doesn't make those falsities go away.
Bless you.
You ridicule and abuse Catholics here because they prove your assertions wrong and based on falsifies. It may be easy for you to continue playing your games but that won't make your falsities go away.
Seriously dude, it's a discussion board. If vigorous discussion is too much for you, or if you are going to resort to manipulation when things don't go your way, then maybe you should not participate. This happens all the time. The anti catholic comes, gets spanked and then blames us for their ignorance. It's not our fault you bought into a lie.

AUTHORITY IN THE CHURCH II
Responsibility for pastoral leadership was not restricted to Peter. ............... Although Paul was not among the Twelve, he too was conspicuous for the leadership which he exercised with an authority received from the Lord himself, claiming to share with Peter and others parallel responsibility and apostolic authority (Gal. 2:7-8; 1 Cor. 9:1). http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/po...rch-ii_en.html
Parallel responsibility doesn't mean that Peter had greater responsibility than the other apostles.
According to this document from the VATICAN there simply wasn't a pope in the early days!quote: Originally posted by mikejuli

No refutation is necessary. I don't see how you could possibly think this proves there wasn't a pope. Maybe you need to look up "parallel responsibility".
And why are you ridiculing and abusing mike like that?

Parallel responsibility means that all apostles were Supreme Pontiffs and infallible.
Correct me if I am wrong!

In a company, is leadership only required of the CEO?
Is the ExO required to exhibit leadership and to follow the same standards set by the CEO?
What about the multiple branch managers? Are each required to exhibit leadership and to follow the standards set by the CEO?
Or is it only the one person, the CEO, who is required to set the standards and follow them? Allowing the rest of the company to go and do as they personally wish?
Are you beginning to see the reoccuring failure of denominations and protestant social structure?

Matt 16:17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in Heaven." It seems clear to me that he was speaking to Peter and not the other apostles. And why would He? They suggested the Son of Man was John the Baptist or Elijah or Jeremiah or one of the other prophets. In other words they were wrong. Kinda makes swiss cheese out of your parallel responsibility theory, doesn't it?

Maybe this will help:
Collegiality - the doctrine held in the Roman Catholic Church that the bishops of the world, collectively considered (the College of Bishops) share the responsibility for the governance and pastoral care of the Church with the Pope. (Wikipedia)
Likewise, it belongs that the sacramental nature of ecclesial ministry that it have a collegial character... every bishop exercises his ministry from within the episcopal college, in communion with the bishop of Rome, the successor of St. Peter and the head of the college. So also priests exercise their ministry from within the presbyterium of the diocese, under the direction of their bishop. (Catechism of the Catholic Church #877)
The college or body of bishops has no authority unless united with the pope. "This college has supreme and full authority over the universal Church; but this power cannot be exercized without the agreement of the Roman Pontiff." (CCC#883)
Here we see that power is exercised in cooperation with and under the direction of a common leader or head. According to Holy Scripture, Jesus (who received from the Father) gave the keys first to Peter, then to the others. All apostles, with the bishops as their successors, received the power to bind and loose (Scripture mentions Paul exercising this authority). They had to have authority (submissive to that of the successors of Peter) in order to individually shepherd their flocks and administer the sacraments. Could you imagine every bishop having to travel to Rome every time? In turn, as time went by and the Church expanded, the need came for presbyters (priests) to shepherd and administer the sacraments under the bishops of their dioceses.
Again, this authority is submissive to that of the pope. And as far as responsibility goes, even the laity has that.
In virtue of their rebirth in Christ there exists among all the Christian faithful a true regard to dignity and the activity whereby all cooperate in the building up of the Body of Christ in accord with each one's own condition and function. (CCC#872)
John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

Ignore the truth. It's cool. I know it's much easier to live in the dark, so I can't say I blame you. But some of us here are seekers.

All Catholics do is seek the opinions of that sick little puppy in Rome

You only say that because we won't accept you sick opinions. We are used to such petty mockery from ignoramus's like you who cannot even see that the option they offer is worse than any vain vision of the successors of Peter.
Anyway, I cannot think of a time that I sought the opinion of the pope. I came to my conclusions on my own, without asking the pope, and by not allowing people like you to claim authority over me with your faddish opinions.
