I have spent a great deal of time studying early Christian writings, and I can not help but think (know) that the early Church was Catholic. Some people on here (namely, g4) believe that the early Church was Pentecostal (in the modern sense of the term), but I have tried more...

Many walked away when Christ first told them that they would have to eat His flesh and drink His blood.
If I didn't believe that Jesus was God, I wouldn't believe that stuff either.
But since Jesus IS God, He can do everything He said He would.

Amen. I find it funny how some people say Catholics aren't Christians. Truth is, if worshiping Jesus were idolatry (as is sometimes falsely accused), then we Catholics are REALLY in trouble, being far more guilty than other Christians. Not only do we physically bow to him (as opposed to the more common Protestant figurative bow), but we publicly profess our belief in him and place ourselves under an oath at every Mass.
As far as the "trapping Jesus in a wafer" accusation goes, that is wrong in so many ways. First of all, it shows your lack of education in the very basics of Catholic theology. Perhaps you need to hit the books a little more before you try to take on a 2,000 year old organization. If you feel you are following Jesus in your attacks on Catholicism, then you being overanxious will cause you to sink faster than Peter when he tried to walk on water.

Catholic theolology does not say "trapping Jesus in a wafer" you said that.
Please stop breaking the 8th commandment bearing false witness.
Jesus took bread blessed & broke it & said this is my body.
Luke 22:19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me."
What makes no sense is when Protestants say the bread & wine are a symbol. How is his body like bread? How is his blood like wine?
1Cor 10:16, "The cup of the blessing that we bless, IS IT NOT THE SHARING OF THE BLOOD OF CHRIST? And the bread that we break, IS IT NOT THE PARTAKING OF THE BODY OF THE LORD?"
Through bigotry prejudices false assumptions & false premises Protestants are protesting a catholic church made up by Protestantism that does not actually exist.

catholics aren't Christians, What in the world make you think you are Christians??. You catholics have proved that your not the true Church as not one of your churches has the gifts of the Spirit operating in them, You are your own witnesses that your not the true Church.
