I did not say it made one a bishop. But not just anyone can write to churches with such authority and revelation from Jesus Christ. For example, if you wrote to 7 churches, the bishops or pastors of the churches would laugh at you.

I see John writing to the 7 churches the same way a bishop writes to churches within his diocese (a certain revelation my ears were able to hear). This whole "seven spirits" of the church thing is the result of anti-catholicism mixed with overactive imaginations, if not, superstition or fancy sorcery.
The term "Catholic" seems to have become a label used in order to differentiate between the Church and the various heretical sects that were being formed.
Writing a letter to Churches doesn't make one a Bishop, Any person can write letters to as many Churches as they want to, Does that make the Bishops??. WAKE UP.
quote:
Ignatius of Antioch
(Letter to the Smyrneans 8:2 [A.D. 110]).
Follow your bishop, every one of you, as obediently as Jesus Christ followed the Father.
Obey your clergy too as you would the apostles; give your deacons the same reverence that you would to a command of God.
Make sure that no step affecting the Church is ever taken by anyone without the bishop’s sanction.
The sole Eucharist you should consider valid is one that is celebrated by the bishop himself, or by some person authorized by him.
Where the bishop is to be seen, there let all his people be; just as, wherever Jesus Christ is present, there is the Catholic Church
(Letter to the Smyrneans 8:2 [A.D. 110]).
quote:
In like manner let everyone respect the deacons as they would respect Jesus Christ, and just as they respect the bishop as a type of the Father, and the presbyters as the council of God and college of the apostles.
Without these, it cannot be called a Church.
I am confident that you accept this, for I have received the exemplar of your love and have it with me in the person of your bishop. His very demeanor is a great lesson and his meekness is his strength. I believe that even the godless do respect him.
(Letter to the Trallians 3:1-2 [A. D. 110]).

What does it matter if the Churches laugh at you?, If Jesus tells you to write to them, You wtite. All yo are responsible for, Is doing what God tells you to.
The Bishop is the Patsor of the loval Church.

G4Me,
Notice in Ignatius' letter, he DID NOT say, "...there is the Pentecostal ...."
That link and Ignatius are liars, Just like the catholics. Peter was never the Bishop of Antioch.

G4Me,
You believe the Bible has errors, and you require that you proof text and test one paragraph against another.
"Bible Alone" actually means "I Alone Pick and Choose What I Want to Understand About the Bible."
What liars you Sola Scriptura people are.

The Bible doesn't have errors, It's the translaters who have wronly translated some scriptures. It's the Bible readers that twist the scriptures [Like the catholics], That are in error.
As for the rest of what you said, STOP TELLING LIES.

Your Pentecostal translaters, guided by the Holy Spirit, are wrong.
Amazing.
And, it takes you, in the year 2012, to get Scripture right.

Bahahahaha! The Pentecostal sect has been preaching heresy for a few hundred years. Is that what you meant to say? I'm sure it is, being the scholar that you are.
Face it. You drank the kool-aid.

You deny Sola Scriptura with your man-made doctrine which gives you a supposed authority to find "errors" from your Pentecostal Bible translators.

You are the person confused in your personal opinions on Sacred Scripture.
You say that you are Sola Scriptura and yet you admit that your Bible translation has errors and that to understand the Bible it requires your private interpretation.
Unbiblical.
Your interpretation requires (in your private opinion) that you pit Scripture against Scripture and that Truth is only found when a sentence is verified against two other text passages.
Unbiblical.
Bible Alone, in truth, means that you alone are the Sola Interpretor of Scriptura.
Unbiblical.
You believe that you are the personal judge and jury on the interpretation of Scripture.
Unbiblical.
You need to know, that you and all those like you, interpret Scripture away from His Church and you develop man-made doctrine as you admit that the Holy Spirit failed to keep your Pentecostal translators of the Bible free from error.
