For Greater Glory

Description

'For Greater Glory' is a fictionalized chronicle of the civil war in Mexico (1926-1929), which followed the Mexican Revolution, when Catholics rose up against their government and its authoritarian policies that virtually outlawed their religion. Actor Andy Garcia plays General Enrique Gorostieta Velarde, a reluctant hero who takes up arms in defense of human freedom.

This dramatic movie challenges the received wisdom that many people outside of Mexico have about the Revolutionary period, and the relationship of the Mexican people to their centuries old Catholic faith.

Three reasons to watch it

  1. Great Latino actor line-up.
  2. Compelling historical drama.
  3. Peter O'Toole.
