Scientists at Spain's National Research Council (CSIC) have found a way to produce nanoporous gold films that can be used to control pollution, among other applications.

The new metal, developed at UC-Irvine with assist from DARPA, is 99.9 percent air. Applications for nano-technology, batteries, and defense envisioned.
