Gays vandalize San Francisco church

San Franciso Mayor Newsom and the Board of Supervisors have shown nothing but contempt for the First Amendment rights of Catholics

Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, in the heart of San Francisco’s gay Castro community, was vandalized over the weekend by opponents of Proposition 8, the California resolution passed by voters in November that rejected gay marriage. Swastikas were painted on the church and the names Ratzinger (referring to Pope Benedict XVI) and Niederauer (the San Francisco Archbishop) were scrawled besides the Nazi symbol.

In the wake of Proposition 8, innocent persons have been assaulted, churches have been vandalized, a white substance resembling anthrax was sent to the Knights of Columbus and to Mormon temples, supporters of traditional marriage have been branded Nazis, African-Americans have been called the ‘N-word,’ houses and cars have been trashed, etc. Unfortunately, most of those in the gay community have been silent about these acts.

Part of the blame for the latest attack goes to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Both Newsom and the Board have shown nothing but contempt for the First Amendment rights of Catholics. When crucifixes are sold as sex toys and Catholic sensibilities are assaulted by naked men in the street at the annual Folsom Street Fair, they say nothing. When gay men dressed as nuns show up at Mass—at the same church—they say nothing. But the Board was quite vocal about condemning the Catholic Church in 2006, something which led to a lawsuit triggered by the Catholic League and the Thomas More Law Center.

For those who love to write about ‘root causes,’ let them ponder the guilt of these public officials. Moreover, leaders in the gay community show no leadership when it comes to denouncing incivility committed in the name of gay rights. This has got to end.

This is really poor journalism. While it's certainly unfortunate that a church was vandalized, until the culprit is apprehended, there's no way to know that it was "gays" who vandalized this San Francisco church.

not fooled by West Coast Nuts: Let me give you a piece of advice. Phrases like "West Coast Nuts" and "Barry Hussein Obama" are neither unique or effective. They will only serve to make yourself look like a narrow-minded tuffet, rather than drive any ideological points you have home with persuadable people.

"leaders in the gay community show no leadership when it comes to denouncing incivility committed in the name of gay rights."

As a friend said, I guess they are too busy trying to deal with the rapes and murders happening then to worry about some pain sprayed on a church.

And B.H.O, homosexuality is NOT sexual disorder.

Remember, sexual orientation is not a choice but practicing religion is a choice.

I love it when the right wing nuts try to play victim ... let's take some rights away from any other group and see if they just lay there metaphorically raped by religious dogma and say "oh well... the people voted my rights away... I guess I just have to suck it up"... I'm surprised the outrage has been as tame as it has been... remember the riots and violence that occurred when "the people" wanted to keep black people at the back of the bus?... There is no "moral choice" in a persons sexuality... and the idea that it's great to be gay but you just can't "practice it" is utterly ridiculous. You will all be exposed for the hypocrites you are and looked back on with embarrassment...

So Gays defaced a pro-gay catholic church? And what proof of this do you have? Oh wild conjecture and speculation?
So when this particular church marched in the gay pride parade as it has done for years it was just trying to bait gay vandals? How about you stop trying to be a detective, judge and jury as you aren't qualified for any position.
