The Grand Inquisitor of Inquisitor General (Latin: Inquisitor Generalis) is the lead official in an Inquisition.
The most famous Inquisitor General is probably the Spanish Dominican Tomás De Torquemada.
The Russian author and philosopher Fyodor Dostoevsky in his book The Brothers Karamazov also has a chapter titled "The Grand Inquisitor" in which a Grand Inquisitor arrests Jesus during the Second Coming.
