Looking Back Looking Forward is a personal and ministry log-book of an ordained minister in the United Church of Canada.

It focuses on whatever is currently on Richard's mind - sometimes about the congregation he serves, sometimes about his personal thoughts on life, and sometimes about things that are happening in the world around him.

History

Richard Bott started his weblog, Looking Back Looking Forward in June 2002, after attending a national conference of The United Church of Canada at which Karen Ward (of Submergence ) was speaking. He was extremely excited about hearing the various ways that Christian communities were interacting with postmoderns.

The first iteration of the blog used a Blogger template and their hosting resources... and quickly moved to a Blogger-supported self-created template on a different host.

Just after the first anniversary of the his blog, the host of peacefulwaters.org invited him to be hosted there... using b2 for content support.

For the second anniversary of the blog, Richard asked Rachal Cunliffe of cre8d design to create a new look for the the blog.

Just prior to the third anniversary, the blog moved away from the (now defunct) b2 to Wordpress.

In July 2005, Looking Back Looking Forward became the starting point for the "United Church of Canada bloggers" blogroll.
