Neither Right Nor Left
.
Summary

Neither Right Nor Left is an open proposal created by the readers on Spero News - you. Because wikis are a new idea for many people, although the concept has been around for a while, the following are some ideas on jumping in:

Introduction

In the Modern Age Of Enlightenment, religion goes hand-in-hand with extremes; Christianity and Islam in particular.

To the Modern Mind, mankind has been the subject of one mental battle after another in an attempt to shed superstition and primitive thinking. Unfortunately, thinking along that order has given rise to a polarization where religious are submitted to being members of a so-called Religous Right, and those of unconventional thinking are relegated to a minority and even radical status.

Such a premise, though, is more complicated. Fortunately, such a beast doesn´t exist. However, the mass majority of the public continues to believe that it does.

If in doubt read any so-called "Left Wing" publication that speaks of a conspiracy on the part of American Evangelicals to take over the government, while so-called "pro-life" or "Right Wing" publications reduce all issues to a moral scorecard reflecting a politician's voting record - for the most part in terms of abortion.

Proposal to you

We believe both postures are an oversimplification of this issue and we at Spero News want your input.

To a large extent, the responsibility for the non-reporting of this over-simplification lies solidly upon the shoulders of the media. Blame also falls upon the rhetoric of the political parties, whether they're of Left or Right inclinations. Both sides seek to create a perception that Christianity is divided. Additionally, both sides seek to reduce Christianity to planks in a platform or manifesto, to specific policy and program choices. This fails to acknowledge that the call to Christianity is not a "third way" between Right and Left, but rather a radical call to accepting Christ, which may then lead one to advocate certain positions from a Christian perspective, not a liberal or conservative one.

Christianity is not divided. It’s time that Christian Leaders 1 rally and stake out basic claims as they're being hijacked by special interest groups, politicians, and the media. We propose developing a platform to do this. Our platform accepts non-Christians and seeks to preserve and protect the sanctity of Human Life.

Q: Should this say leaders, or rather just "Christians"?
A: I can see it both ways. In the short-run, the leaders are the ones who can take decisive action. -- Astralis Lux
Q: And do we need a definition of "Christian"?
A: I think we do. Click Christian Orthodoxy to begin defining it. -- Astralis Lux

With that in mind, we would like to invite readers to constuct a comprehensive proposal in the Spero Wiki, with the goal of later presenting the proposal globally to politicians. Such a debate could include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

Topics of debate

  1. A definition of Pro Life, to include not only issues related to abortion, but would encompass subjects ranging from the propagation of war machinery and politics. This is not a one issue subject, with abortion being the defining cut-off, but rather a holistic understanding of the value of human life from conception to natural death.
  2. An implementation of Just War theology, especially in relation to national budgetary expenditures and balancing the need for an acceptance of national sovereignty with the desire for multilateral attempts to reduce conflict among nation-states.
  3. An understanding of the basic concept of human dignity in relation to terms of discrimination
  4. A check to Rampant Capitalism, globalism, and Limited Open Borders: The acceptance that persons who live in an economically-deprived society have the right to move to another country to follow the equivalent of the American Dream - in a search to better oneself, and provide economic sustenance for family - where ever they go countered by realistic Border Controls to prevent the migration of people who seek to inflict damage upon the State or other countries via the propagation of criminal behaviours and activities.
  5. Marriage defined as between man and woman, allowing a broader definition of Civil Rights, and tax breaks for large families, which it is in the interest of the State to protect if for no other reason than to ensure the continuation of said State.
  6. Legal and Civil Rights allowed for Civil Unions, to allow for any relationship between consenting adults with regard to work, inheritance, taxes, etc.
  7. The acceptance of Basic Rights: the right to work, to own a home, a living wage
  8. Teaching that with basic rights comes certain responsibilities, such as voting and paying taxes
  9. The idea of a convenant with State, that with the paying of taxes, etc, the government in turn promises to take care of the person, ie pension, health costs. Countered by realistic market costs, expenditures, etc, but not driven by a need for profit, i.e. worker pays into system that supports the government, and as a byproduct government repays – or via State sanctioned system - worker for their helping the system
  10. Basic environmental stewardship issues
  11. The absolute freedom of conscience for the individual to worship as he or she desires, or not at all
