In 2005, the Santificarnos website and blogs was merged with the Spero Forum site ran by Clint Gillespie. The various Santificarnos blogs are being gradually closed down (serving as aggregators now pointing to the latest Spero News version) and being folded into the Spero community.

Robert Duncan began blogging as a lark in February 2002 at the Atletico Rules blog and under the name of Jesus Gil. After a few months, Robert wanted to take the site into a different direction, and changed the name to Ibidem, although he still blogged under the name of Jesus Gil. In the summer of 2003, Robert launched the Santificarnos group blog aimed at providing material and support for divorced Catholics.

In the winter of 2004 the Santificarnos blog branched out into Spanish, and Robert began blogging under his own name. Groundwork was also begun to develop a bilingual news site.

For an interim period, Robert Duncan's blog at Spero News used the name The Heroic Moment, and which was subsequently changed to its current name, PelicanPress.
