The Atlanta chapter of the leftist Black Lives Matter organization wondered on Twitter why black people celebrate Christmas. The group, which has been associated with multiple violent protests over the last two years, considers the feast of the Nativity of Jesus Christ as a corporate holiday rather than a Christian holy day. BLM said that Christmas is predominantly white.
The BLM tweet proved to be quite controversial. Some tweets referred to the leftist group as a “disgrace” while others sought to remind BLM that it is a Christian holy day. “I don’t know maybe because they can do whatever the hell they want and no stupid ass Twitter account can stop them,” tweeted one user.
The above tweet has been removed from Twitter.
In answer, Black Lives Matter declared, “Christmas is a corporate holiday that does nothing but generate millions of dollars for white businesses powered by white supremacy.”

According to the International Business Times, the BLM representative for Los Angeles, Melina Abdullah, referred to President-elect Donald Trump and his Cabinet picks to reflect the “white supremacist capitalism” in the United States. BLM, she said, plans on countering Trump throughout the coming four years by urging black Americans to “ start shopping at black-owned small businesses that also provide service to the communities like independent black bookstores.”
