Melania Trump wore a “pussy-bow silk crepe de chine shirt” by the Gucci status brand as she watched her husband debate Democrat Hillary Clinton tonight in St. Louis at Washington University. Given the name that Gucci gave to the luxurious blouse, observers were quick to theorize that Melania’s decision to wear it was hardly a coincidence but conveyed some deeper meaning.
Donald Trump has been under fire ever since the Washington Post released a video that recorded an off-the-record conversation he had with Billy Bush in which in made lewd comments about women. The conversation was recorded 11 years ago but released strategically just two days before the debate. In the video, Trump said he liked to kiss women, among other remarks, and also: “And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.” “Grab them by the p***y. You can do anything.”
On its corporate website, Gucci says, “Pussy-bow shirts are one of Gucci’s signature silhouettes,” and adds, “New for Pre-Fall ’16, this fuchsia style is cut from silk crepe de chine for a languid drape.” Melania Trump wore the blouse with a matching pair of pants.
“We think it’s a chic way to elevate office or weekend looks,” Gucci says.
The blouse bears a retail price of $1,100.
