Former Speaker of The House Newt Gingrich said President Donald Trump could defeat any Democrat in the 2020 presidential election. Appearing on Thursday on “Fox & Friends,” when Gingrich was asked if former Secretary of State John Kerry could be an effective challenger, he said that Trump would easily defeat the former diplomat and U.S. senator.
“I am perfectly happy for him to run for president. I think, look, the more Democrats who decide that they will run for president, the better off we are going to be in 2020,” Gingrich said. “I think trump will beat any of them. So it doesn’t concern me very much. I think the economic boom we are starting into is going to, in fact, perform very well this fall for Republicans. And I think that it’s going to perform very well for Trump in 2020.”
According to Gingrich, the Democrats have no agenda of economic growth. He said that voters want to see better pay and more jobs created instead of increased taxes and government intervention. “The contrast between the Democrats’ inability to create jobs for eight years and what Trump is doing is going to be so great that I think the country will vote for more jobs and higher take home pay and a better future,” he said. “It’s not complicated. So Kerry can run if he wants to. It’s a free country.”
