Media widely reported that a federal grand jury indicted eight members of the violent MS-13 narco-terrorist organization on a variety of racketeering and firearms charges. In an email response to Spero News, Carl Rusnok of Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that all eight of the persons indicted are illegal aliens, while “most are from El Salvador.  They are not in ICE custody, but ICE has placed immigration detainers.” Other media failed to point out that the young males accused are foreigners. The U.S. Attorney’s office in Dallas announced the indictments on Friday.

ICE named the defendants:

Rolan Ivan Hernandez-Fuentes, 25, aka Ivan Fuentes, Tasmania, Ronal Ivan and Fuentes Hernandez;

Jerson Gutierrez-Ramos, 20, aka Gerson Gutierrez and Sparky;

Cristian Wilfredo Cabrera-Cruz, 26, aka Cristin Benjamin Vigil and Mama;

Kevin Cruz, 19, aka Street Danger;

Jose Armando Saravia-Romero, 19, aka Jose Saravia, Mandy and Pinky;

Manuel Amaya-Alvarez, 21, aka Manuel Amaya and Chocolate; and

Jonathan Alexander Baires, 20, aka Splinter..

The name of the eighth defendant is currently under seal.

The defendants are charged with racketeering conspiracy; attempted murder in aid of racketeering; assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering; conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering; and using, carrying and possessing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

“Gangs – and especially transnational gangs like MS-13 – are responsible for many of the violent crimes that occur throughout the country,” said Special Agent in Charge Katrina W. Berger, HSI Dallas, according to a release by ICE. “Some of these violent gang members have illegally entered the United States as unaccompanied alien children.” said Berger. For her part, U.S. Attorney Erin Nealy Cox for the Northern District of Texas, said, “MS-13 is one of the most violent and ruthless gangs on the streets today.” Both President Donald Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions have identified MS-13 as a focus of attention on the part of the Department of Justice.

Sessions was quoted to say, “The Department of Justice will not allow MS-13 to terrorize any community, school or street corner.” MS-13 has more than 10,000 members residing in 40 states. The motto of the criminal organization is ‘kill, rape, and control.’  “Evil gangs like MS-13 are perpetrators of senseless violence in our communities,” said Governor Greg Abbott of Texas“

MS-13 is an international gang composed of immigrants from El Salvador or their descendants. The group is active in El Salvador, Guatemala and other countries as far away as Spain. The branches or “cliques” of MS-13 operate around the country, including Dallas, where the Irving Loco Salvatruchas (ILS) clique is active. Members of MS-13 are required to commit murder and other acts of violence to join the gang. Violence is also used to maintain membership and discipline. One of the principal rules of MS-13 is that its members and associates must kill rivals, known as “chavalas,” whenever possible.

According to the indictment, some of the eight MS-13 members are charged with multiple machete attacks upon 10 victims, including members or associates of the rival 18th Street Gang. In some instances, they used knives, shotguns and even sledgehammers to commit mayhem. Those charged are facing life-sentences if convicted.
