Near Krasnodar, a city in southern Russia along the banks of the Kuban River and near the Black Sea, a female lion attacked and mauled a 4-year-old girl who was attending a circus with her family. The tragedy occurred at the village of Uspénskoye.
The ferocius attack occurred on Sunday. The child, whose name is as yet unknown, was seated in the first row of seats where she was waving a flag. The lion pounced on the girl after breaking down the barrier between the beast and the audience. Seizing the girl, the lion dragged her into the ring. The tyke suffered deep bite wounds to her face that reached from an ear to her chin.
The victim was hospitalized in Krasnodar, where she is recovering from grave injuries to her head and chest. One of the spectators recorded a video of the incident, sharing it on social media.
