Riots ensued in the wake of an officer-involved shooting of a black man in Milwaukee. African American rioters burned down businesses and incinerated police cars while screaming “black power!” Whites who happened to be in the area were targeted for beat-downs, including a reporter.
Commenting on the violence was Star Parker, the founder of Urban CURE. In a fundraising appeal, she wrote about the connection between Black Lives Matter and socialist funders such as billionaire George Soros. She said, “I need to be very clear as our nation is stirred into racial controversy: black lives don't matter to Black Lives Matter.”
In her message, Parker said that leaks of documents and emails from Soros’s foundation revealed millions of dollars to faith-based groups in poor, minority communities. “Page after page reveals how effective his money is used in forging partnerships with the media and clergy as well as partnerships with local elected officials. As you know, Black Lives Matter is funded by George Soros.”
Parker said, “Soros and his groups are obsessed by quick outcomes -- results. If the groups he funds do not provide results, they do not get refunded. Historically, as you know, riots and violence quickly change public policy.
“Make no mistake, Soros and his groups do not care about the lives of black people! Because if they did, they would not be pushing the same policies that have failed black communities. Not only does Black Lives Matter want to sustain these destructive policies, but progressives want them pushed onto all Americans!”
The Black Lives Matter website spells out one of its main objectives:
"We are committed to disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and 'villages' that collectively care for one another, and especially 'our' children to the degree that mothers, parents and children are comfortable."
Americans need only look at their prisons to see the results of progressive policies, she wrote, to see that a majority of felons were raised in single-mother homes. “Yet, progressives want MORE welfare programs that will discourage marriage.”
