In an evening tweet, freshman member of Congress Ilhan Omar (D-MN) tweeted a video of Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) in 2015 where he opposed President Donald Trump's travel ban on certain Muslim-majority nations into the United States. Omar, born in Somalia, and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) were elected in November as the first Muslim female members of Congress.

Omar posted her comment after retweeting Qasim Rashid, a Muslim attorney activist who calls himself an advocate of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in America. In his tweet he wrote "I can't even imagine what they have on Graham. Senator Lindsey Graham in 2015: 'Donald Trump is a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot." Rashid attached a video of Graham opposing Trump's travel ban on CNN. Omar then retweeted him with a comment: "They got to him, he is compromised!"

Both Omar and Rashid did not elaborate what secret Graham may have or who "they" are who compromised Graham. Spero News reached out to both Omar and Rashid but did not receive a reply in time for publication.

Graham, along with former Senator John McCain, were known as "Never Trumpers." Graham was featured as a caricature on Tucker Carlson's new book "Ship of Fools" that detailed the so-called resistance against President Trump's policies. During the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, though, Graham halted his vigorous opposition against Trump. Since then, Graham has met with Trump, supported and publicly praised his policies, and has also received praise from the President. Graham still remains opposed to Trump on various policies including reopening the government, which was rejected by Trump two days ago, or Trump's position on Syria.

Responses to Omar's tweet remain mixed although her tweet has gained little attention as of time of publication of this article.
